It was about 12pm on a Saturday in Stillwater, NJ. The fire dept. got blown out for a MVA (Motor Vehicle Accident) into a pole with entrapment and wires down.
Well I was at my friends house at the time of the call (My friend is a junior Fire Fighter himself). Because the call sounded serious I sprinted out the door and he followed me. We both hopped on bikes and started biking to the call which was at an intersection about 2 miles down the road. Well about 5 minutes into the ride I'm freezing (When I went out the door I forgot it was about 36 degrees out). Not only that when we got to the scene it turns out a woman drover her car up the guide wire of a telephone pole and she was just sitting there. No wires down, no nothing. My friend and I went up to another intersection to direct traffic since they had enough people at the scene. As we were directing traffic a senile woman blows through the stop sign almost running me and my friend over. Another firefighter got her she stopped and we got her on the right road.
Well after we cleared my friend and I started to ride back to his house. After about a half-mile of riding the handlebar on the bike came out of the hole it’s supposed to stay in. So I had about 1.5 miles left to go on a broken handlebar. Once we finally got back I sat down tired after the call but inevitably I got a bad cold and I was coughing my brains out that evening back at my house. That was probably the worst call I was ever on but still it was pretty funny to see the woman’s car like that on the guide wire.
